The Miggi is a sweet, welcoming place to stay, recently opened with care and attention to details especially telling about the lives and stories of the local famous authors and other interesting people via the room themes. Naomi is a very thoughtful caring host and caters to your personal needs and wishes. Besides a comfortable room and terrific breakfast options and service we loved the food provided by Phoenix the in house chef. They made dinner, a picnic lunch, a special cheese and fabulous chocolate truffles for us at great value. As plant based eaters we felt very much at home at The Miggi but I am sure that everyone would appreciate what is on offer here.

The Miggi is set in a great location close to the beach. The rooms are a delight, especially if you love books. The breakfast was superb! Naomi is so welcoming and friendly, I will definitely be back with my dog Stanlee who definitely also loves the Miggi. They are a truly dog friendly B&b.

The Miggi is a thoughtfully planned out vegan guesthouse; from the book-themed rooms to the room contents, everything you need is here, including a fridge, recycling facilities and environmentally friendly toiletries. Great cooked breakfast with sizing adjustments to suit. The vegan vending machine is a great touch too! Really kind and helpful hosts and a very beneficial partnership with Phoenix (All Good Things Vegan) which means you can book delicious & inventive vegan evening meals, taking the pressure off finding somewhere to eat after a long day of holidaying! This is the perfect place to stay - especially for vegans who have dogs - being just a stone's throw from the beach. The green along the length of the promenade is great for morning & evening sniffy walks and the area has some beautiful circular walks to explore. We particularly enjoyed Brixham to Berry Head, Ansteys Cove to Meadsfoot Beach (the Bishop's Walk) and the Galmpton to Greenway circular along a peaceful creek to Agatha Christie's holiday home.

We were lucky enough to be some of the very first guests at The Miggi. The Miggi is clearly a labour of love for owners Naomi and Mark - from the warm welcoming atmosphere, to the handmade decorative details in every room. Each room is based around a particular author; we got a peek at a few of them while we were there, and are looking forward to relaxing in the decadent turquoises of the Oscar Wilde room, and brooding in the gothic opulence of the Mary Shelley suite, at a later date. For this visit we were staying in the Tolkien room, which is earthy, spacious, and fully accessible. The bed was comfortable, and the room benefits from a big wet room with a rainwater shower. It was lovely to have such a large, quiet, peaceful space to relax in, and we delighted in all the little nerdy touches - like the postcards from Middle Earth on the wall - as well as all the thoughtful additions like our choice of teas and milk, and locally made vegan toiletries. We also loved the Agatha Christie themed dinning room - which includes a paper-mache rendition of Bob, surely everyone's favourite Christie character - where we enjoyed abundant and varied multi-course vegan breakfasts. It would be remiss of us not to mention All Good Things Vegan, the Miggi's sibling business. Chef Phoenix is nothing short of a genius, and their presence at the Miggi means that those who choose can add vegan fine dining to their stay, in the form of multi-course afternoon teas or evening meals, packed picnic lunches or celebration cakes. We had an afternoon tea and a two course dinner during our stay, both exquisite and abundant, including some of the best vegan cake we have ever eaten. With its themed rooms, stacks of books and boardgames, and entrance hall wall-papered with book covers, the Miggi is a nerd's paradise, as well as a welcoming space for LGBTQ+ folks and guests with disabilities, and a delight for vegans. Doggo friends are also welcome! Cannot recommend warmly enough!

Vegan plant-based cooked breakfast

We’ve been vegan for over 30 years. We know that being vegan does not have to mean missing out on delicious meals.

Our amazing breakfast menu will start your day right – whether you’d like a full vegan fry-up, a plate of croissants or overnight oats.

Snacks and treats are available 24/7 from our little Tuck Shop in the lobby.

Our local beach cafes have vegan ice creams and we have a list of recommendations for local cafes offering vegan food, many of which are also accessible and dog-friendly.

Picnics, afternoon teas, celebration cakes, restaurant nights, cooking classes, and handmade chocolates will be available to order from our sibling business, All Good Things.

JRR Tolken in his study smoking a pipe - there are pictures in the swirling smoke as he spins his story

Our individually-designed, comfortable rooms are themed on books and authors that inspire us. Here are some of our author’s comments on the important subject of sleep and dreaming:

“A single dream is more powerful than a thousand realities” – JRR Tolkein

“My dreams were all my own; I accounted for them to nobody; they were my refuge when annoyed – my dearest pleasure when free.” – Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley

“I desired always to stretch the night and fill it fuller and fuller with dreams.” – Virginia Woolf

“May we learn to honor the hammock, the siesta, the nap and the pause in all its forms.” – Alice Walker

“He felt that his whole life was some kind of dream and he sometimes wondered whose it was and whether they were enjoying it.” – Douglas Adams

All our rooms are ensuite and include facilities such as mini-fridge, kettle, tea or coffee, hairdryer, TV, and locally-made cruelty-free toiletries.

Our spacious ground floor suite offers good access from a disabled parking bay, an accessible bathroom, and a comfy sitting area including a riser-recliner chair.

Dogs are very welcome too. Read more about our dog-friendly holidays.
