Would you like to spend part of your holiday helping care for rescued animals?
We’re supporting our local animal sanctuary, Hakuna Matata Animal Trust, a small charity that desperately needs helpers. Volunteer at the sanctuary during your stay and we’ll give you 50% off – yes, that’s a HALF-PRICE HOLIDAY!

About Hakuna Matata
Hakuna Matata Animal Trust started in 2021 and has rescued, re-homed and fostered 89 animals while also having a hand in multiple animal rescue missions. The sanctuary just outside Paignton is home to pigs, sheep, rabbits, guinea pigs, gerbils and both domestic and feral cats.

Volunteering at the sanctuary
Volunteering roles may include feeding, watering and mucking out the animals, helping to repair fencing and shelters, building new sheds and shelters.
You can stay for just 2 nights or up to 2 weeks. We hope you will spend roughly half of your half-price holiday volunteering, which leaves time to relax and explore Torbay too. Our epic vegan breakfasts will set you up for the day ahead each morning!
The sanctuary is a 5-10 minute walk from the nearest bus stop, but transport can be arranged for volunteers if needed.
To volunteer, you will need to apply to the charity directly and be accepted by them before accessing the discount code for 50% off your stay at The Miggi.

Other ways to support the sanctuary
The volunteering roles are physically demanding, which we appreciate isn’t suitable for everyone, so here are some other ways to support the sanctuary:
Donate 10% of your bill – enter the promo code “Hakuna Matata” when you book your stay at The Miggi and we will donate 10% of the bill to the sanctuary. Only one promo code can be applied per booking.
Sponsor an animal – make a regular donation (from just a few pounds a month) towards the care of one of the animals. Meet the animals in need of sponsorship here.
Shop – mugs, tshirts, stickers, and more from the online Hakuna Matata shop
Online auctions – join the Facebook auction page, all proceeds to the sanctuary: Hakuna Matata Auctions
