Where does the name Miggi come from?

Miggi (pronounced with hard Gs) was Naomi’s nickname when she was a child. Read the full story here.

Do you support animal rescues and charities?

The Miggi supports Devon County Hunt Saboteurs, making a donation for each night a guest stays.

We also support Hakuna Matata Animal Trust, a local vegan-run animal sanctuary, offering discounted stays for volunteers.

We donate prizes for charity raffles such as Freedom for Animals, and host benefit events.

What do you serve vegans for breakfast?

Our delicious vegan breakfasts are served in our Agatha Christie themed dining room from 8am-10am. Options on The Miggi menu include overnight oats, croissants, and a full cooked breakfast with sausages, homemade bacon, scrambled tofu, hash brown bites, onion rings, beans, mushrooms, and tomatoes. Can you cater for gluten-free diets and allergies?

Yes! Please let us know if you have any allergies or dietary requirements when you order. We have gluten-free options for nearly everything on The Miggi menu, including GF cereals, oats, bread, and most cooked items on the breakfast menu here.

Can I book a meal as a non-guest?

We are happy to welcome non-guests to enjoy breakfast at The Miggi, but you must book in advance as many of our menu items need to be prepared the night before. You can find our breakfast menu here and contact us to book here.

Our housemate Phoenix runs their own business All Good Things Vegan at The Miggi. Phoenix makes evening meals, afternoon teas and special occasion roasts. These are cooked to order so must be booked in advance. Read more about All Good Things Vegan and find contact details here.

Are non-vegans allowed?

You do not have to be vegan to stay at The Miggi – vegan food is for everyone!

We do ask all guests to respect that this is a vegan house by not bringing non-vegan food or drinks into our home (food for your dogs is an exception).

Is there a wheelchair-accessible vegan B&B?

The Miggi is a wheelchair-accessible guesthouse. We can reserve the parking space by the front door for guests with disabilities, there’s a ramp up to the entrance, a ground-floor suite with roll-in shower, and the dining room is also on the ground-floor. Is there accommodation for disabled people with carers?

The Miggi has an accessible room for guests with disabilities and a neighbouring room ideal for a carer, if needed. You can read more about accessibility at The Miggi here.

Are there accessible activities for people with disabilities?

We’ve found some fantastic local accessible activities for our guests to enjoy – including sailing, hiking, and a scenic steam train trip. Here’s a suggested itinerary for accessible adventures.

Can I park and charge my mobility scooter?

The Miggi has space in the hall for parking and recharging your mobility scooter. There are full details about accessibility at The Miggi here.

Where can I hire a mobility scooter for my holiday?

You can rent a mobility scooter (and other mobility equipment) for your stay and have it delivered to The Miggi. You can find links to local companies that hire out mobility equipment here.

Are you LGBTQI+ friendly?

Everyone is welcome at The Miggi. We are members of the Safe Space Alliance, meaning that LGBTQI+ folk can freely express themselves here.

The Miggi is book-themed and our rooms celebrate authors, including LGBTQ+ writers Oscar Wilde, Alice Walker, and Virginia Woolf.

Do you welcome solo travellers?

Solo travellers are welcome at The Miggi. We have a lovely room designed for solo guests – the Virginia Woolf “A Room of One’s Own” on the ground floor. Our other rooms can be booked with a small discount for single-occupancy.

Is there a fee to bring my dog/s on holiday?

No, The Miggi does not charge for canine guests. You can read more about bringing your dog on holiday with you here.

Is there a limit on the number of dogs I can bring?

We love canine guests at The Miggi, so we don’t limit the number you can bring, but we do suggest booking one of the more spacious rooms (Mary Shelley or Tolkien) if you are bringing several dogs or larger dogs. You can read more about dog-friendly Torbay here.

Can I get there by train?

There are direct trains from London, Birmingham, Manchester, Bristol to Paignton station, which is just under a mile level walk from The Miggi. There are also coaches. For more information about enjoying a car-free holiday, please see our getting around Torbay page.

Is there free parking and a charger for my electric vehicle?

There is free car parking on-site and a fast charger for electric cars at The Miggi.

How do I find out about availability and book a stay at The Miggi?

Using our online booking system is simple.

Pop your dates into the boxes at the top of the page, click “check availability” and choose a room. If you have a Promo Code for a discount, enter it in the Promo Code box. Follow the instructions to pay a deposit and secure your booking. Contact us if you need help with your booking.

Can I enjoy a UK volunteering holiday that helps animals?

Is there a discount for staying a week at The Miggi?

Do you provide discounts for members of charities?

The Miggi gives 10% off for members of VIVA, The Vegan Society, and Animal Aid. Members can find the relevant Promo Code on their websites to use when booking online.

Do you provide Blue Light discounts for NHS and emergency service workers?

The Miggi gives “Blue Light” workers – carers, NHS staff, firefighters and so on – 10% off. Enter the Promo Code BlueLight when you book.

What is included in the price?

We don’t believe in hidden extra charges at The Miggi. Our fees include breakfast, WIFI, room refreshments including plant milk for drinks, parking, linen, toiletries, and bringing your canine friends with you.

Are toiletries provided at The Miggi?

The Miggi provides gorgeous locally-made, natural, plastic-free soap kits made by the Natural Spa in Exeter. The lovely kits are stored in reusable metal travel tins and include a “soap saver” bag.

What are the check-in and check-out times? What if I want to arrive early or leave late?

Our usual check-in is from 3. Check-out by 11.

You can arrange early check-in or late check-out in advance for a small charge.

What is your cancellation policy?

You can cancel up to 14 days before the first date of your stay and we will refund you fully.

If the booking is cancelled less than 14 days before arrival then a charge equal to the full booking amount can be made.
In the event of a no show or booking reduction after you have arrived, the full cost of the booking can be charged.

Is Torbay vegan-friendly?

Is there vegan / vegetarian accommodation near the beach and the South-West Coast Path?

The Miggi vegan guesthouse offers walker-friendly just 100m from the beach and South-West Coast Path. Our location in the middle of Tor bay is perfect for walking the Coast Path, and there are beautiful walks to enjoy throughout the area which even hosts an annual Walking Festival.
